Celina Jaitly Files Domestic Violence Case Against Husband
Bollywood actor Celina Jaitly has filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband Peter Haag. The case was filed in the Judicial Magistrate First Class court in Andheri, Mumbai. The court has issued a notice to Haag, who is an Austrian national. The case will be heard on December 12.
Details of the Legal Complaint
Advocate Niharika Karanjawala confirmed the filing of the complaint under the Domestic Violence Act. She stated the complaint details years of alleged abuse. The allegations include both physical and emotional cruelty. Karanjawala described the abuse as lasting through many years of Jaitly’s marriage.
The legal team claims Haag used manipulation and coercion. They allege this behavior occurred over an extended period. The complaint suggests the abuse affected Jaitly’s personal and professional life.
Financial Compensation Sought
Jaitly’s petition requests significant financial compensation. She is seeking Rs 10 lakhs in monthly maintenance. This amount would cover her living expenses and support.
The petition also claims Rs 50 crores for loss of potential earnings. Her legal team states she was forced to stop working during a lucrative career period. They argue this resulted in substantial financial loss.
An additional Rs 50 crores is sought for pain and suffering. This brings the total damages claim to Rs 100 crores. The amounts reflect the severity of the alleged impact on Jaitly’s life and career.
Property Dispute and Coercion Allegations
Separate civil proceedings are underway regarding a property owned by Jaitly. Her legal counsel claims Haag obtained the property’s gift deed through coercion. This suggests possible financial manipulation alongside the domestic violence allegations.
The property case adds another layer to the legal battle. It indicates potential financial disputes between the couple. These proceedings are happening concurrently with the domestic violence case.
Concern for Children
Jaitly’s primary concern remains her three children. The children are currently in Austria with Haag. The petition includes determinations regarding the children’s welfare.
Karanjawala emphasized that children-related matters form part of their legal prayer. This suggests possible custody or visitation issues may be addressed in future hearings.
Next Court Date Set
The court has scheduled the next hearing for December 12. This follows the issuance of notice to Peter Haag. The notice requires Haag to respond to the allegations.
The December 12 hearing will mark an important step in the legal process. It represents the first formal response opportunity for both parties in court.
This case highlights how domestic violence allegations can involve multiple legal aspects. These include criminal complaints, financial claims, and child welfare matters. The outcome could set precedents for similar cases involving international marriages and high-profile individuals.
