EXCLUSIVE: Dhurandhar is Ranveer Singh's FIRST-ever

Dhurandhar Becomes Ranveer Singh’s First ‘A’ Rated Film With Epic Runtime

The upcoming action film Dhurandhar is making headlines for several major reasons as its release date approaches. New details have emerged about the film’s official certification and final length, marking significant firsts for its lead star, Ranveer Singh.

A Landmark Runtime for Bollywood

The Central Board of Film Certification has officially locked the runtime for Dhurandhar. The film will run for 214 minutes and 1 second. This translates to 3 hours, 34 minutes, and 1 second of screen time.

This length makes Dhurandhar one of the longest major Bollywood releases in nearly two decades. The last Hindi film to have a similar epic runtime was the historical drama Jodhaa Akbar, which released in 2008 and also ran for 214 minutes. This choice signals the filmmakers’ ambition to deliver a large-scale cinematic experience.

Ranveer Singh’s First Adult Certificate

In a key career milestone, Dhurandhar has been awarded an ‘A’ certificate by the censor board. This means the film is certified for adult audiences only. This is a first for Ranveer Singh in his 15-year film career.

While Singh has starred in intense roles before, none of his previous films have received the adult-only rating. This new certification for Dhurandhar suggests a more mature and potentially gritty tone for the action entertainer, differentiating it from his past work.

Censor Board Requires Specific Changes

The path to the film’s censor certificate involved a series of modifications requested by the board. The filmmakers were required to add a voiceover to the standard Hindi disclaimer, extending its duration. Mandatory anti-drug and anti-smoking warnings were also inserted into scenes depicting substance use.

The board specifically addressed violent content. In the film’s opening, certain violent visuals were deleted and replaced with different shots. Later in the second half, the CBFC asked the producers to reduce the intensity of violent imagery. Additionally, the name of a character portrayed as a minister was changed.

A single cuss word in the dialogue was muted to meet certification guidelines. The producers also used the censor process to enhance the end credits by adding music and additional scenes.

Final Steps Before Release

All these adjustments were completed, and the censor certificate was officially granted to the Dhurandhar team on December 2. The film is now cleared for its worldwide theatrical debut.

Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar features a powerhouse cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal alongside Ranveer Singh. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is scheduled to hit cinemas globally on December 5. The combination of its star power, epic length, and adult rating has positioned it as one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
