Long-Delayed Film “Kennedy” Set for Trailer Launch and Release
After years of anticipation and public frustration from its director, the acclaimed thriller “Kennedy” is finally nearing its release. Exclusive reports confirm the film’s trailer will be unveiled next month, signaling the end of a long wait for fans and the industry.
A Festival Premiere Followed by Silence
“Kennedy” is not an unknown project. The film, directed by celebrated filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and starring Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat, first premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2023. It later screened at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival the same year, receiving strong praise from festival audiences. Despite this early success and buzz, the movie vanished from public view, failing to secure a commercial release in India or internationally.
The film is produced by Zee Studios, Ranjan Singh, and Kabir Ahuja. In 2025, Anurag Kashyap openly expressed his anger over the delay. He blamed corporate executives more focused on share prices and profits than on releasing a finished film. His comments highlighted a growing tension between creative vision and studio management in the modern film business.
Trailer Launch at Prestigious Arts Festival
New information reveals a major step forward. The trailer for “Kennedy” will be officially launched at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The event will take place at Cross Maidan in South Mumbai. Anurag Kashyap, along with stars Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat, will be present for the unveiling. The trio will also participate in a live discussion about the film. The festival schedule notes this event will bring “the festival to a powerful cinematic close.”
This planned launch is the strongest indicator yet that the film’s full release is imminent. Industry observers now expect “Kennedy” to hit screens within a month or two of the trailer launch. A key remaining question is whether it will debut in traditional cinemas or go directly to a streaming platform, a decision many delayed films now face.
Kala Ghoda Festival: A Cinematic Hub
The launch of the “Kennedy” trailer is a centerpiece event in a film-heavy lineup for the 2026 Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. The festival, a major cultural event in Mumbai, is packed with movie-related activities throughout its run.
Other notable events include conversations and screenings with the teams of classic and upcoming films. Director R Balki will discuss movies and food alongside a screening of “Cheeni Kum.” The teams behind “Jhankaar Beats” and “Tanvi The Great” will also hold interactive sessions. A special screening of the 1983 classic “Ardh Satya” will be followed by a discussion moderated by Nandita Puri.
The festival will also host promotional events for new projects like “Tu Yaa Main” and “Kohrra: Season 2.” Comedian Vir Das will promote his memoir, while legendary poet-lyricist Gulzar will engage in a conversation about poetry and cinema. The event concludes with live musical performances from artists like Usha Uthup, Monali Thakur, and Farhan Akhtar at the iconic Asiatic Library Steps.
For Anurag Kashyap and his team, the Kala Ghoda launch represents the light at the end of a long tunnel. For audiences, it is the welcome signal that a lost cinematic chapter is finally about to be found.
