Dhurandhar Makes History by Skipping Tuesday Discount for Second Week
The blockbuster film Dhurandhar is rewriting the rules of box office strategy. For the second Tuesday in a row, the film will not offer discounted tickets. This is a first in the history of a popular industry discount scheme. The move signals extreme confidence in the film’s unstoppable demand.
Unprecedented Box Office Hold
Dhurandhar opened to solid numbers but truly exploded on weekdays. Its performance indicated a massive second weekend. The actual figures stunned the trade. From its eighth to tenth day in theaters, the film earned a huge Rs. 146.60 crores. This incredible hold made the film’s distributors take a bold step.
A source explained the decision. The weekend trend showed incredible audience demand. Distributors decided cinemas should not reduce ticket prices on the usual discount day. They instructed theaters to follow blockbuster pricing all week, including Tuesday. The strong second Monday collections confirmed the strategy was working.
Breaking from Established Tradition
This decision breaks a major industry pattern. A nationwide Tuesday discount offer began on April 22, 2025. Since then, only two other major films skipped the offer in their first week: Raid 2 and Sitaare Zameen Par. However, both those films adopted the discount scheme from their second week onward.
This makes Dhurandhar the first film ever to reject the Tuesday discount for two consecutive weeks. The film is proving it does not need price cuts to pull audiences into theaters. Its content and word-of-mouth are driving tickets at full price.
A Discount-Free Holiday Season Ahead
The trend may continue. An industry insider suggests the momentum could cancel discounts for future Tuesdays as well. The upcoming dates of December 23 and December 30 fall during prime holiday season. Business is naturally on an upswing during this period.
The insider revealed audiences should not expect discounts until possibly January 6, 2026. This would mean nearly a full month of blockbuster pricing. It highlights the film’s unique position in the market. Other films rely on discounts to boost midweek numbers, but Dhurandhar is creating its own rules.
The Powerhouse Behind the Phenomenon
Dhurandhar features a star-studded cast led by Ranveer Singh. It also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. The film is directed by Aditya Dhar and backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The production has already announced a sequel, scheduled for release on March 19, 2026.
The film’s historic box office run is a major story for investors and the industry. It demonstrates the power of a big-scale film with strong audience appeal. It shows that strategic pricing, based on real-time demand, can maximize revenue. Dhurandhar is not just a hit movie. It is becoming a case study in modern blockbuster economics.
