Karisma Kapoor’s Children Demand Forensic Review of Sunjay Kapur’s Will
The legal fight over the estate of late businessman Sunjay Kapur has grown more intense. His children with former wife Karisma Kapoor are now pushing for a forensic review of his will. The court has asked their stepmother to explain why she opposes this examination.
Siblings Challenge Will Authenticity
Samaira and Kiaan Kapur have asked the Delhi High Court to inspect the original will. They believe the document might be forged. The will was submitted by its executor Shradha Suri Marwah in a sealed cover. The siblings received only a certified copy. They say this copy contains inconsistencies that need closer study.
They want experts to examine the signature and the document’s details. A forensic test can check the paper, ink, and handwriting. This type of analysis is common in disputed inheritance cases. It helps confirm whether a will is genuine.
Step-Mother’s Objection Raises Questions
Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay Kapur’s second wife, has objected to the forensic review. Her opposition has surprised legal experts. Usually, parties welcome such checks to prove a will’s validity.
During a hearing on November 14, the children’s lawyer questioned this resistance. He asked why Priya and the executor would block a process that could establish the truth. The will reportedly leaves almost all assets to one person. This makes the situation more sensitive.
Court Seeks Written Explanation
The court has given Priya Sachdev and the executor three weeks to explain their objections. They must file written responses by early December. The children’s legal team can also submit additional arguments.
The next hearing is scheduled for December 16. The court’s joint registrar will review all documents before making a decision. This step is important to ensure a fair process.
Multiple Issues Found in the Will
Sources close to the case say the children have identified several problems. The will contains outdated addresses and pronoun errors. It does not match earlier records. Digital metadata suggests the document might have been changed after it was signed.
There is also no known communication from Sunjay Kapur that supports the will’s contents. These issues have led the children to doubt the document’s authenticity. They ask a simple question: if the will is real, why not allow a forensic check?
Separate Plea to Protect Assets
In a related move, Samaira and Kiaan have filed another application. They want to prevent Priya from transferring or changing any assets until the case is resolved. The court will hear this request soon.
