Bollywood comedy sequel MASTIII 4 has arrived in theaters with high expectations but delivers only occasional entertainment. The film continues the popular franchise but struggles to maintain the humor quality that made previous installments successful.
Plot Overview and Character Dynamics
The story follows three friends living in the United Kingdom who become dissatisfied with their married lives. Riteish Deshmukh plays Amar, who works at a zoo helping animals mate. Vivek Oberoi portrays Meet, an automobile industry professional, while Aftab Shivdasani appears as Prem, a doctor. Each character faces different challenges in their marriages.
The plot takes an unusual turn when the trio discovers their friend Kamraj, played by Arshad Warsi, has obtained a “Love Visa” from his wife. This fictional concept allows Kamraj one week of freedom for extramarital affairs while maintaining his marriage. The three main characters become fascinated by this arrangement and seek similar permissions from their own wives.
Execution and Creative Shortcomings
Director Milap Milan Zaveri attempts to create a laugh-a-minute comedy but falls short in execution. The screenplay, co-written by Farrukh Dhondy and Zaveri, contains few jokes that land effectively. Some dialogue does generate laughter in places, though reports indicate the Censor Board required modifications to certain lines.
Visually, the film maintains high production standards with appealing cinematography by Sanket Shah. Notable cameo appearances include Genelia Deshmukh, who makes a positive impression in her brief screen time. Tusshar Kapoor as Don Pablo Putinwa represents a missed opportunity, as his character had potential for greater comedic impact with better writing.

The musical components of MASTIII 4 fail to excite listeners. Songs like “Pakad Pakad” and “One In Crore” lack the catchiness expected from Bollywood productions. While well-picturized, the music doesn’t enhance the overall film experience.
Technical aspects show mixed results. The production design by Tajamul Ismail Shaikh and Anshita Manot creates a rich visual environment, and Avni Gumber’s costume designs are stylish. However, the visual effects by White Apple fall below contemporary standards, and the editing by Sanjay Sankla remains merely functional.

MASTIII 4 faces significant challenges in attracting audiences to theaters.
